Why I Teach Hebrew
The Journey from Tel Aviv to Zurich
I grew up in Tel Aviv and studied education and Jewish studies. Over the years, I fell in love with the depth of this language – its ability to express thousands of years of content, ideas, and thoughts precisely and concisely.
When I moved to Zurich many years ago, I discovered something surprising: Here, far from Israel, there are people searching for exactly what I had taken for granted – the connection, the language, the culture.
That's how I started teaching Hebrew.
Who Learns Hebrew With Me
Each student comes with a different story, but they all share something – a genuine desire for connection.
There's the businessman who needs Hebrew for work and discovers it's much more than just meetings – it's about understanding colleagues, the humor, the way Israelis think.
There's the person seeking roots and connection – perhaps a grandmother spoke Hebrew, perhaps there's family in Israel.
There's the culture enthusiast – someone who fell in love with Israel and wants to read newspapers, understand songs, truly experience it.
Why I Do This
I love that moment when something "clicks" – a student suddenly understands the logic of grammar, or reads something in Hebrew and understands it. And realizes that it simply works.
After years of teaching Hebrew, each new student is still the beginning of something interesting. Because it's not just about teaching a language – it's about opening a door to culture, to people, to genuine connection.
